Good morning, Washington. Remember last week, when we were wondering what kind of a plan a criminal had after stealing a tanker truck hauling gasoline in Baltimore? The truck was later found parked on South Capitol Street in Southwest D.C., drained of about 7,000 gallons of No. 2 diesel fuel. This morning we learn that the missing gasoline was found at a Chevron station in Southeast Washington, which police are now investigating.

Weekend Protests Saw Violence: Friday’s planned “October Rebellion” protests in Georgetown turned violent. The Georgetown Voice blog reported that one woman was hit in the face with a brick, and a police officer was pushed from a scooter, which resulted in some arrests. The Post reports that D.C. police also briefly scuffled with World Bank protesters Saturday, but no one was seriously injured or arrested in that incident.

UDC Will Return Unused Money: More signs of trouble at the University of the District of Columbia, as the Examiner reports the school will return up to $18 million in unused funds to the city. The extra money was discovered soon after the university announced it would be raising students’ tuition by 40 percent because it was strapped for cash, and a criminal investigation has been opened by federal and city authorities into the university’s spending.

Briefly Noted: D.C. sees big drop in federal prosecutions … Hit-and-run kills three year-old girl, injures three adults in Columbia Heights … D.C. Council will get involved in taxi meter transition.
