Last night a few of us made our way to Nellie’s Sports Bar, where the Washington Blade was giving out its Best of Gay D.C. awards. We were honored to pick up the prize for Best Local Blog, with their kind description:
When D.C. residents need to keep up on local events, art, sports, restaurants or pretty much anything else related to life in the District, they head to DCist.com… The blog is truly a community endeavor, with readers submitting photos and comments, links to other D.C. blogs and an extensive group of volunteers writing all the articles.
Wow! Thanks, guys! We’re honored that so many folks visit DCist every day to read about what’s going on in Washington. The reception was a packed room full of people dedicated to this town, with nearly all of the winners in attendance to schmooze and snack on some delicious empanadas. We were interested to meet chef Herbert Kerschenbaumer, proprietor of Jack’s, the winner of Best New Resturant, who assured us they have fantastic happy hours deals, and At-Large Council member (and Runner-Up for Local Female Hero) Carol Schwartz, who can work a room of gay men like no one you’ve ever seen.
Everyone at DCist sincerely thanks the Washington Blade and their readers for this honor.
