You’d think potentially violent criminals would know by now: if you injure someone anywhere near your favorite hang out spot in Ward 1, Council member Jim Graham is going to swoop in and ruin the fun for everyone else. If the possibility of being locked up in the terrifying confines of the D.C. Jail isn’t enough of a deterrent, having all your friends be totally pissed at you for getting the place where they like to dance shut down ought to work.
And so it goes again. WJLA is reporting that a fight that led to a man being stabbed five times occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday outside of El Salvadoreno restaurant on 14th Street NW in Mt. Pleasant Columbia Heights. No arrests were made, and the suspects are described as two Latino males between 18- to 22-years-old. True to form, Graham has asked Police Chief Cathy Lanier to suspend the restaurant and club’s license, citing numerous complaints by neighbors.
El Salvadoreno had its license suspended once before in 2006 for 60 days in the wake of a series of criminal incidents in and around the restaurant.
For a brief history of other businesses Jim Graham has targeted for closure after violent crimes occurred in or outside of them, go here, here and here.
