Good news in time for Christmas this year; the Warehouse Theater will continue to operate through next summer, according to the institution. The venue is currently hosting Scena Theater’s The Maids and will have new shows in February and March. That also means it remains a venue for next year’s Fringe Festival. The Warehouse is still looking for a new home.
Despite the usual winter doldrums that December brings, there are still a number of intriguing productions premiering at area theaters this year. Washington Shakespeare Company has two contemporary play choices playing in repertory this December; Kafka’s Dick opened Nov. 29 and the Jackie O-obsessed The House of Yes is close behind, beginning December 6.
Nothing says holiday cheer like Greek tragedy. Forum bucks tradition and stages the great Antigone (Dec. 8).
It’s baaaaack! Woolly‘s famed One Man Star Wars Trilogy makes a return engagement (Dec. 11).
And everyone’s favorite target, Scientology, gets the Landless treatment as they stage the area premiere of A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant, poking fun at Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and other scary figures…played by children! (Dec. 20).
Think your family deserves a reality show, or improv act in this case, dedicated to its holiday season zaniness? Washington Improv Theater’s Seasonal Disorder will let audience members throw out ideas from personal experience, which then becomes fodder or the six-person team on stage (Nov. 30).
