>> Blues Alley goes smooth this weekend as saxophonist Kim Waters performs Thursday through Saturday and fellow reedsmith Marcus Mitchell comes to town on Monday. Sets are at 8 and 10 p.m. Tickets for Waters’ shows are $35, while Monday’s cover is $18. All performances will require a $12.50 minimum +surcharge.

>> The Tassa drumming of East Indians from the Caribbean region is performed by both Hindus and Muslims, in sacred as well as secular contexts. Major League Tassa, who will perform Thursday on the Millennium Stage, specializes in rhythms used for processions, the Diwali holiday, and weddings, along with contemporary tunes played at clubs, sports bars and social events in the New York City area. 6 p.m. Free.
