READING: Charles E. Cobb Jr., a veteran of the civil rights movement, will be at National Geographic’s Grosvenor Auditorium to talk about On the Road to Freedom: A Guided Tour of the Civil Rights Trail, with a special emphasis on historic sites in the Washington area. 7:30 p.m.

FREE STUFF: Petrona Martinez is a Colombian singer whose raw, chanted vocals blend well with her band’s funky Afro-Latino percussion. They will be appearing for free at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage at 6 p.m.

MUSIC: The last time St. Vincent played the Rock and Roll Hotel, this past summer, she had the audience firmly in the palm of her seductive hand. She’s part Feist, part old-school Liz Phair, and entirely fantastic. Hear her lilting melodies tonight in an 8:30 p.m. show with Foreign Born. $12.

MOVIE: Nothing goes better with a burger and fries than a screening of Deliverance. Catch it at the American City Diner and Cinema Cafe at 8 p.m.

MUSIC: Barton Carroll of Crooked Fingers is playing the Red and the Black with local singer/songwriter Dave Ihmels. $8
