>> David Sanborn is one of the most popular saxophonists of his generation, largely due to an R&B-influenced sound that has led to collaborations with Sting, Eric Clapton and Joss Stone, among others. Touring in support of his 23rd album, Here & Gone, Sanborn will begin a five-night stand of 8 and 10 p.m. sets tonight at Blues Alley. Impressive B3 organist Joey DeFrancesco will be his special guest for the entire run. $60 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Unbuckled alum Matt Grason leads his jazz-House band, House of Soul, on Thursday at the Bossa Bistro & Lounge. The group also includes Charles Ostle (***), keyboardist Jon Ozment and vocalist Rochelle Rice. 10 p.m., $3.

>> First gaining recognition playing with multi-platinum rockers Living Colour, drummer Will Calhoun has also forged an impressive career at the intersection of electronic, jazz and world fusion. His credits outside of his Grammy-winning band include jazzers Wayne Shorter, McCoy Tyner, and Marcus Miller, alongside artists as diverse as Lauryn Hill and Paul Simon. Supporting his latest solo release, Native Lands, Calhoun will be leading his own group on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. set at the National Geographic’s Grosvenor Auditorium.
