The pretty people are descending upon our city. A couple big movie shoots are in town, so if you’re into that sort of thing, now’s your chance for an Affleck or LaBeouf sighting.
State of Play, an adaptation of a BBC miniseries starring Russell Crow and Ben Affleck, has been shooting for a couple of days around Capitol Hill. This movie made headlines in the fall when Brad Pitt dropped out due to an inability to get the rewrite he wanted thanks to the writer’s strike. Perhaps you remember the hubbub that arose in the Washington Post newsroom when Pitt dropped by to do some research into his former character. Sadly, we don’t have any reason to believe that Brad, Angelina or any of their 30 or so children are around town now — but not so sadly for Crowe and Affleck fans.
Eagle Eye, starring Shia LaBeouf and Billy Bob Thornton, is also shooting somewhere in our midst as we speak. IMDB describes that one as the story of “a young slacker and a single mom [who] get tangled up in a terrorist cell plotting a political assassination.”
We also learned while digging around for details that there’s an entire blog, Shot In Washington, dedicated to TV and movies shooting in and around D.C. Let us know if you see anybody exciting for non-political reasons around town. For some reason, whenever famous people are in town, we hear about them dining at Cafe Milano, so that might be a good place to start if you’re on the prowl.
