Welcome to the…Charlotte Metropolitan Area Transit Authority?

From the files of the surreal: visual evidence of a grossly inaccurate Metro pylon which has been erected in Charlotte during the filming of a D.C.-based TV show.

Covert Geography

The District is hungry for revenue. Film and television producers have money. Logically, it only makes sense for the city’s brass to try and court them to film here — which would explain why Mayor Vince Gray is taking some time out of his busy desk work schedule this afternoon to visit the set of Covert Affairs.

J. Edgar Hoover Biopic To Shoot In D.C. This Weekend

It’s shaping up to be a rather busy weekend around the District. In addition to the first weekend of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and the National Marathon (we’ll have more on that later), there’ll be a big-time movie shoot going on. According to the D.C. So who was it? Were there any big stars in the area? Don’t get too excited: D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Television Development spokesperson Leslie R. Green informs DCist that…

Transformers 3 Filming Scheduled For October 11-15

The District Department of Transportation emailed this afternoon to let us know that Michael Bay and company (along with their sweet, sweet money) will film Transformers 3 on location in Washington next week. Filming for the third cinematic installment of the Great Decepticon-Autobot Conflict will begin on Monday, and based on street closures and parking restrictions, the shooting will be contained on the Mall. (Looks like Bay may have gotten his wish to film a bunch of historical stuff blowing up after all.) Filming in D.C. will wrap on the 15th, so be sure to bring your camera with you if you’re near the Mall next week.

Click Click: Adams Morgan Movie Shoot Gathers a Crowd

The number of people at the corner of 18th and Columbia Tuesday night looked more like what you’d expect on a Saturday night. Except that it was as bright as day. From around 9 p.m. to well beyond midnight, a sizable crowd gathered on the sidewalks that weren’t in use by the teeming film crew to get a close-up view of the complexities involved in making a big-budget film. The scene being shot directly in…
