Na-na-na-na-na-na! The Batmobile made an appearance in Chinatown around 12:30 p.m. today, accompanied by a similarly-painted red and black Hummer. The guy driving the old-school ‘Mobile parked it in front of the Verizon Center on 7th Street NW for a few minutes and was gone, presumably back to the Batcave, by about 1 p.m.
The driver was not exactly forthcoming when asked about the car, saying it was “for a church” and handing out cards for the Soul Factory, a local 5,000 member church. When asked where the car came from, the driver (who resembled church CEO Deron Cloud pictured on the card) said he got it “from an associate.”
The card shows the car and reads “THE ORIGNIAL BAT MOBLIE” (sic), though I can’t find more about the car on the church’s website. Wikipedia says there was one original and three fiberglass replicas of the car, although the Soul Factory card says “The Original: #6 Car.” Who knows, it was an amusing diversion at lunch time.
Anybody else see the car around town?
