MUSIC: When a good concert lineup coincides with a great cause, we can’t help but jump on board. Three Stars alums The Beanstalk Library (***) team up with GW band Bottles/Cans and the soulful PS24 to benefit the National Coalition for the Homeless at Black Cat’s Backstage. Doors at 8:30 p.m., $10.

MOVIE: We’re thrilled to see that the Library of Congress’ Mary Pickford Theater has at last posted a new repertory film screening schedule on their web site. It’s been months since it was updated, and their frequent free screenings of kooky and hard to find classic cinema have been sorely missed. On the agenda tonight: David Jones’ 1982 adaptation of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal, starring Jeremy Irons, Ben Kingsley, Patricia Hodge and Avril Elgar. The reverse-chronological story of adultery and forsaken friendship has its pacing flaws, but Kingsley and Irons make for formidable romantic rivals on the screen, and the price is just right. Call (202) 707-5677 to reserve a seat.

READING: Richard Price, a former writer for The Wire, will be at Politics and Prose tonight to talk about Lush Life, his new crime novel set in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Hopefully he won’t mind taking questions about his old job, too. 7 p.m.

MUSIC: Woody Guthrie disciple David Dondero and The Entire State of Florida will be at Iota, with Americana artist Jason Myles Goss of Brooklyn opening. Doors at 8:30 p.m. $10.

CLASSICAL: Each year the Vocal Arts Society presents two young singers in its Art Song Discovery Series. This year’s honorees, soprano Brooke Evers and tenor Michael Gallant, will give a free recital at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage at 6 p.m.
