RELAX: Did you just frantically e-file your tax return during your lunch break? Take a deep breath and head over to the DC Yoga Week web site and find a studio near you that’s offering seriously reduced price classes between now and Friday. Many local studios, like the new Quiet Mind Yoga in Columbia Heights, are offering $5 classes all week long.
MUSIC: Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Casey Neill & the Norway Rats fuse punk rock with Celtic folk, and this eclectic combination has received praise from rock legend Steve Earle, who said, “These are songs with stories well told. This is what its all about.” Go see what they are all about for yourself at the Black Cat’s backstage with opener Little Pink. $8, 9 p.m.
MOVIE: Another interesting film at the Library of Congress’ Mary Pickford theater. Tonight at 7 p.m. they’re screening R.P.M., Stanley Kramer’s little-seen college drama set during the sexual revolution, starring Anthony Quinn in a totally different sort of role as a liberal professor, and Ann-Margaret as his girlfriend. With a script by Erich Segal, you’re in for some schmaltzy romantic dialog, but it’s worth it to see two such charismatic actors play off each other in a relatively accurate portrayal of the times that were a-changin’.
MUSIC: There were an awful lot of people trying sell tickets outside the 9:30 Club last night for the New Pornographers and Okkervil River. If you still want to go, you might consider just heading down there, or trying one of the many face-value options on Craigslist. Doors at 7, OR at 8, NP at 9:30.
