We’re just getting into the thick of wedding season, and so apparently are the Washington Redskins. Somewhat infamous bachelor and Pro Bowl tight end Chris Cooley settled down with his ex-‘Skinette fiancee Christy Oglevee this coming weekend in Landsdowne.
Their relationship has gotten plenty of ink (virtual and real) over the past couple years. Cooley himself waxed poetic about the romance just last week, writing on his Yahoo Sports blog, “Maybe her dad brainwashed me one of the nights I passed out at her house, because no matter what happened, I was crazy about her. More likely it was her mom, since I was usually trying to impress the old man by drinking him under the table.” Special times.
Now, as you may recall, Cooley met Christy when another Redskin cheerleader he was seeing brought her over to his house. Word eventually got out about the secret tryst(s), and the two were unceremoniously dumped from the cheerleading squad — on Fan Appreciation Day. Tragic, we know, though we’re sure the lost income (the ‘Skinettes get $75 a week) probably matters less with that big ol’ ring on her finger.
As Mike Wise put it, Captain Chaos is now caged. Any suggestions for a new nickname? How about a “BrAngelina” style nickname for the happy couple? At any rate, their two wedding registries (via the Bog) are here and here. Feel free to send Mr. and Mrs. Cooley some expert cutlery or really soft towels or a napkin holder or something. Also, you can keep up with the newlywed star’s random musings on his “Outside Football” blog.
Other Redskins Notes: Rookie TE Fred Davis — the man who will be studying Cooley with a clipboard and visor for the foreseeable future — finally apologized to the team for sleeping in and missing practice during a minicamp earlier this month… The Redskins have hired a blogger, giving Dan Snyder yet another way to personally spin any type of actual news that might come out of Redskins Park.
