MONDAY
>> Happy Memorial Day! Assuming you’re not exhausted from all the pool splashing and hot dog eating, you can head to Iota for a rare show from Ida (pictured right), who have been singing gorgeous indie folk-rock harmonies since the mid-1990s, and have the particular distinction of being the favorite band of DCist editor Sommer Mathis. $12, 8:30 p.m.

>> Arlington seems to be the only place to go for music on Monday night. Galaxy Hut has the final Sad Crocodile residency at 9 p.m., with special guest Greenland. They’ve also posted a great history of the bar up on their MySpace blog.

TUESDAY
>> We don’t know if it was the 9:30 or the band, but whoever came up with the emo-mocking title, “Surprise! At the Club!” lead in for the Raconteurs shows next week, thanks for the giggle. The band, made up of Jack White, Brendan Benson and two members of the Greenhorns, is taking over the 9:30 Club for two nights this week. We absolutely loved their set at the Virgin Festival in 2006, and their first album. Their new album… not so much. But these should still be some stellar shows. Both Tuesday and Wednesday are sold out, so consult Craigslist for options. With Black Lips (who we reviewed in March); doors at 7:30 p.m.

>> The Bellrays and their punk-inspired blues (or blues-inspired punk, depending on how you want to call it) are headlining the Black Cat. With openers Architects and The Future Fags. $12, 9 p.m.

>> If this is the kind of thing that rings your chime, you’ve probably had your tickets to see Duran Duran at Merriweather Post Pavilion for a while now. If you’re suddenly in the mood to drive to MD for an 80s night, however, tickets are still available. $40-$125.
