A native of Uganda now based in the Bay Area, Okello performs a mix of Afro-pop, sung in her mother tongue, along with re-workings of classic jazz standards. Okello will be performing this Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Borders (1801 K St. NW) in support of, Kiwomera Emmeeme, an excellent collection of original material. Free
