Chef Teddy Folkman of Granville Moore’s cooks up moules and frites |
In case you haven’t had the opportunity to make the trek out to Granville Moore’s on H Street NE, try tuning into the Food Network tonight at 9 p.m. to see what you’ve been missing out on. Even if you’ve had to opportunity to try their signature Moules Fromage Bleu – a steaming pot of PEI mussels, bacon, shallots, spinach, and blue cheese with frites – watch as Food Network poster-boy Bobby Flay attempts to “throwdown” and pit his coconut milk, roasted green chilies and butter mussels, and roasted poblano fries against Chef Teddy Folkman’s classic dish. Good luck, considering Folkman’s double-fried frites rank among D.C.’s best, alongside Brasserie Beck and Belga Cafe.
“Being selected by the Food Network to work with them is an amazing honor. But to represent ‘Moules and Frites’ in a city with so many great Belgian restaurants and big name chefs as Washington D.C., that was the greatest honor,” Folkman said in a statement, adding, “it’s wonderful the Atlas District and H Street NE in general are finally getting the attention and recognition it deserves.”
D.C. bloggers Jason and Amy Storch are also featured as judges in the episode.
