Welcome to Friday, Washington. We hope you have fun plans ahead of you for the next two days, and that this morning’s round of Red line delays didn’t ruin your pre-weekend sunny disposition. Take a deep breath, and dive into some headlines.

PG County Guards Have Criminal Record: The Post does some great reporting to discover that more than a dozen corrections officers at the Prince George’s County jail have been arrested themselves in the past, on charges of things like theft, assault, domestic violence and drunken driving. The story comes weeks after inmate Ronnie White, in custody on charges of killing a PG County police officer, was strangled to death inside the jail. No individual guard has yet to be implicated in White’s death.

Victim Says it’s Possible Novak Didn’t Notice Accident: Don Clifford Liljenquist did a radio interview yesterday on WMAL, in which he said it was possible that conservative columnist Bob Novak didn’t notice he had struck him. “The vehicle was moving at 10 miles per hour or something like that, and the driver might not have seen me, because I rolled off and fell down to the pavement. So, yeah, it’s possible that he didn’t see me. He wasn’t paying attention to his driving.” Novak has maintained that he didn’t know he had struck anyone until witnesses stopped him and told him.

Briefly Noted Off-duty PG County police officer shot and killed one of two men who tried to rob him … Two tax office workers plead guilty in embezzlement scam … Trinidad residents march to protest violence … Woman survives hit and run in Southeast … One person is dead after a shooting on North Capitol Street NW.
