She socialized with the Washington Social club, pulled together The Housemates for several years of DCist’s entertainment — including an Unbuckled performance and a recent interview — and now Olivia Mancini is realigning her musical efforts yet again. She and her new lineup, Olivia and the Terrible Two, are playing a show at the Black Cat this weekend with Tereu Tereu and Revival ($10, 9 p.m.). Here’s what she told us earlier this week about the new and old lineups and what she’s got in store for us:

The new “Terrible Two” lineup is essentially three-fifths of the original Housemates lineup. We’ve lost a few to different cities over the years — Dan Swenson to Boston and Ed Donohue to New York — and when we play in town as a trio, Randy Scope and Kristin Forbes have adopted Terrible Two as their moniker.

We are still looking for a new name in general though — we’re like a broken record with that! But we’re in Philadelphia, recording another full length album that will introduce our new name… whatever that ends up being.

This latest EP includes songs that I was originally thinking of using for our second LP. But when we went into the studio, up in Brooklyn, where the Social Club recorded its second record, the songs had such a distinct vibe to them, that I thought they’d be better presented as their own collection. It was a win-win decision, really, because now we’ll have all new songs for this next record.

I’m hoping the record will be out in April or so — right in line with a flurry of Housemates’ related releases — Donny Hue & the Colors (including me, Randy, Ed and Dan) are coming out with an album in the spring, but also a new incarnation: Sleeping Secrets, Randy’s studio project he so kindly had me sing on. That’s coming out on Kora Records (as is the Donny Hue album) in early April, as well. We’ve been busy!

Here’s a new track from the upcoming EP, “My Old Ways”
