If you stayed home this afternoon, it turns out that HBO is indeed airing the We Are One Opening Inaugural Concert LIVE right now. We wonder if the live version will conform to exactly two hours, or if an edited version will air at 7 p.m.
You can also stream the concert for free at HBO.com, though it’s on a delay of about 30 seconds compared to the television feed. NPR.org is also streaming the audio feed live.
We’ve received reports that the security checkpoints around the concert are now closed, but DCist’s Andrew Wiseman reports from the National Mall that you can still grab a spot to sit back by the Smithsonian Castle. Andrew says you can’t really see the Lincoln Memorial from there, but there are jumbotrons set up that people are watching. There are no security checkpoints that far back on the Mall. Andrew arrived shortly before the concert began, and said taking the Green line to Archives and walking over ended up being pretty painless. His train was not very crowded.
