>> ’70s funk/R&B band Average White Band will be at the Birchmere tonight and Saturday. $35, 7:30 p.m.
>> Michigan-based Afro-funk band NOMO is returning to the District and the Rock and Roll Hotel. They’ll be joined by Ra Ra Rasputin, Funk Ark, and Dirty Bombs. $12, 8:30 p.m.
>> Another edition of DJ Dredd‘s “Close 2 The Edge” will be going down at the Black Cat. $7, 9 p.m.
>> The “Black Light Special” party at Selam (1524 U Street NW) will be heavy on the Afro-beat tonight, with a strictly vinyl set being spun by DJ Underdog. $1, 10 p.m.
Saturday:
>> DJs Cam Jus and Underdog put the music into the “Otherside” party happening at Selam (1524 U Street NW). $7, 10 p.m.
Sunday:
>> Local acoustic musician KUKU will be headlining the show at Bohemian Caverns which will also feature Mongezi Ntaka, Joe “Sticky Mulligan” Smith, and the The Savory Papas. $10, 9 p.m.
