>> It’s been about 20 years since Raphael Saadiq hit the scene with Tony! Toni! Toné!. Now a well-established solo artist and producer, he’ll be peforming at the 9:30 Club to a sold out crowd. As always, Craigslist is an option but that’s looking scant. 7 p.m.

>> A night of nothing but Jay-Z and Nas is on tap at the Red Lounge with sounds being put down by DJs Roddy Rod and 2-Tone Jones. $5, 9 p.m.

Thursday:
>> Continuing on the Jay-Z kick, Inner Loop Records will be hosting a remix part of Hova’s debut album, Reasonable Doubt. Several area-based producers and artists will be participating (Kokayi, Best Kept Secret, and XO among others) at the event at Club Expo (1928 9th Street NW). $15, 8 p.m.

Friday:
>> ’70s funk/R&B band Average White Band will be at the Birchmere tonight and Saturday. $35, 7:30 p.m.

>> Michigan-based Afro-funk band NOMO is returning to the District and the Rock and Roll Hotel. They’ll be joined by Ra Ra Rasputin, Funk Ark, and Dirty Bombs. $12, 8:30 p.m.

>> Another edition of DJ Dredd‘s “Close 2 The Edge” will be going down at the Black Cat. $7, 9 p.m.

>> The “Black Light Special” party at Selam (1524 U Street NW) will be heavy on the Afro-beat tonight, with a strictly vinyl set being spun by DJ Underdog. $1, 10 p.m.

Saturday:
>> DJs Cam Jus and Underdog put the music into the “Otherside” party happening at Selam (1524 U Street NW). $7, 10 p.m.

Sunday:
>> Local acoustic musician KUKU will be headlining the show at Bohemian Caverns which will also feature Mongezi Ntaka, Joe “Sticky Mulligan” Smith, and the The Savory Papas. $10, 9 p.m.

Monday:
>> Three Stars alum Flex Mathews (pictured) will be performing at the Black Cat‘s backstage. Sharing the bill with him will be Mello-D & the Rados and The Five One Band. $8, 9 p.m.
