>> Stop by the Warehouse tonight for a one-night-only resurrection of Punch Club (6 to 8 p.m.), then stick around for the DC Listening Lounge‘s Sound Scene 2009: The Human Body, an installation featuring a “large-scale audio-interactive of the human body” that hopefully isn’t as gross as it sounds. Punch Club is free (and benefits the Museum of the American Cocktail); Sound Scene is $6 at the door, includes free CD, 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
>> The Finnish Embassy is giving the House of Sweden a run for its money as the most fun Scandinavian party destination. Tonight they open “MyHelsinki,” an exhibition featuring multimedia responses from 12 D.C. residents who were recently invited by the Finnish government to Helsinki to check out the city. >> The sixth annual Bethesda Fine Art Festival is this weekend with tons of art, food, music and activities. The festival itself runs Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. But warm up for the event tonight during Bethesda’s monthly art walk featuring new exhibits at Gallery Neptune, the Washington School of Photography, and 11 other venues, between 6 and 9 p.m., with a tour starting at 6:30 p.m.
>> The excellent Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings bring their vintage soul sound to the 9:30 Club for shows Friday and Saturday night. They’ll be joined by Naomi Shelton and the Gospel Queens. $30, Friday at 8 p.m./Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
>> These United States share a bill with Philadelphia power popsters the Spinto Band. Greenland opens the show at the Black Cat. 9 p.m., $12.
SATURDAY:
>> The EU Open House runs today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get a behind-the-scenes look at Washington’s European Embassies, many of which are housed in architecturally significant buildings. Highlights will include a MacAllan whiskey tasting at the British Embassy, and a performance by Czech band Ondráš (plus plenty of Czech beer to taste) at the Embassy of the Czech Republic. Embassies of the following countries will participate: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. No registration is required, but make sure to bring ID and don’t be surprised if you get searched before you enter.
>> Blues fans should head to downtown Silver Spring, where Memphis Gold headlines the first annual Silver Spring Blues Festival. Besides the music, activities include crafts, face painting, magicians, clowns, and a musical instrument petting zoo. 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Free.
>> Today’s 2:30 p.m. Inside Media lecture at the Newseum features fiesty ABC News White House correspondent Jake Tapper, who will share his experiences covering the Obama administration.
>> The Warehouse is just en fuego this weekend. Today they host the latest iteration of the DC Record Fair, featuring 30+ vinyl dealers, plus a full bar, food, plenty of DJs, and special in-person appearance by go-go legend Chuck Brown, who will sign autographs. This is going to be a packed event. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
>> Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh & Co., the dance troupe that mounts the annual Fall Festival of Indian Arts, performs this today (8 p.m.) and Sunday (7 p.m.) at Dance Place. The program will blend East and West with traditional Indian dance, as well as Anna Sokolow’s 1961 Holocaust commentary, Dreams. $14-$22
>> The excellent Choir of Men and Boys from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, K Street, will give a free concert at Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church in Bethesda. The program includes classics of the Anglican choral tradition, as well as Haydn’s thrilling storm motet Insanae et vanae curae, a favorite of boy choirs everywhere. Free, 7:30 p.m.
