“glass morandi” by dr_kim_veis
DCist teamed up with the Phillips Collection last month to sponsor the museum’s Make Your Own Morandi contest, which challenged local photographers to create images in the style of Italian painter Giorgio Morandi. Morandi was famous for his still life scenes featuring everyday objects that portray a vague purpose, and his work is featured in a special exhibition that runs through May 24.
A panel of judges narrowed the entrants down to three finalists, and the public had the opportunity to vote for their favorite. The results are in, and the winner is “Glass Morandi” by Flickr user dr_kim_veis, who received 110 votes. “Morandi_0067” by Megira came in second with 99 votes, and “Morndi3” by erikdavisheim took third, with 54 votes.
Winner dr_kim_veis takes home a gift valued at $100 from Apartment Zero, and a free copy of the Morandi: Master of Modern Still Life exhibition catalogue from the Phillips. Congrats to dr_kim! You can check out all of the entries in the contest’s Flickr group.
