>> Fusion icons The Yellowjackets have been at the forefront of the genre for nearly 30 years. The group has revamped its approach in recent years, after spending the late 80s and 90s in smoother waters. Catch their adventurous sound this Thursday through Sunday at Blues Alley. Tickets to the 8 and 10 p.m. sets are $30 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
>> Grammy nominated Swedish saxophonist Jonas Kullhammar leads a quartet that was voted the country’s best jazz group in 2002. The are currently on a U.S. tour, and will be performing on the Millennium Stage this Friday. 6 p.m. Free
>> Pianist and stellar Latin jazz artist Benito Gonzalez spent time in D.C. after moving to this country from his native Venezuela. He has since made his way toward the bright lights of the Big Apple, but makes regular appearances in the District. He will lead a band through 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets on Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. Tickets are $18.
