Good morning, Washington. Looks like those Blue and Yellow Line problems from yesterday evening continued through to this morning, as a problem with a communication cable forced trains to share the same track between the Braddock Road and National Airport, creating 20 to 30 minute delays. Good luck out there.

Gas Prices Back Up: It’s easy to get frustrated with our Metrorail system when mechanical failures of this sort affect rush hour commutes, but for a quick reminder of the benefits of riding Metro to work every day, look no further than this NBC4 report (video) showing that gas prices have once again topped the $3 per gallon mark in some parts of the metro area. Doesn’t look like we’re going to see the same prices rollercoaster as last summer, but area drivers are still having to adjust to recent increases of almost 40 cents per gallon.

Fenty Fatigue?: The Washington Post takes a look at whether Mayor Adrian Fenty’s aggressive fundraising could actually cause him to have trouble raising more money down the line. After all, there’s still more than a year left before the 2010 Democratic primary, and even though the mayor has amassed an impressive $2 million war chest, in this economy, he may need to start worrying about having bled every potential donor dry before the campaign season really begins in earnest. Not to mention, with no serious rival yet entering the race, donors may well lose interest in the election, seeing its outcome as a foregone conclusion.

This Day in DCist: In 2008, we chronicled a heated ANC meeting over Comet Ping Pong, and in 2007, Metro decided to put more advertisements in the system, anywhere it could.
