Saturday was National HIV Testing Day, and as part of the national effort to get out the message to take an HIV test regularly, D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty taped this PSA with HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
Here’s the transcript for the spot:
Sebelius: I’m Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Fenty: And I’m Adrian Fenty, the Mayor of Washington DC.
Sebelius: Every nine and a half minutes someone in the U.S. becomes infected with HIV.
Fenty: To find a testing site near you, text your ZIP code to “KNOWIT” – that’s “5-6-6-9-4-8” – or visit HIVtest.org.
Sebelius: “Take the Test, Take Control.”
Voiceover: To learn more visit AIDS.gov. This message is from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
It’s good to see the mayor taking part in efforts like this — if anything, it’s long overdue.
