>> Guitarist Dominic Miller has been the anchor to Sting’s touring band since the early 1990s, known for his versatile and tasteful playing. Tonight, he’ll team up with pianist Peter Kater, a multi-platinum selling New Age artist, for an intimate performance at Blues Alley. >> Gato + The Palenke Music Co. performs regularly around town at places like the Bossa Bistro & Lounge. The seven piece group that blends a variety of South American musical styles will be playing tonight on the Millennium Stage. 6 p.m. Free

>> Tenor saxophonist Bruce Swaim has performed with world class artists such as Keter Betts, Carl Allen, Rosemary Clooney, Martha Reeves, and Millie Jackson. He’ll be playing the Millennium Stage with his own group on Thursday night. 6 p.m. Free

>> Japanese pianist Hiromi Uehara burst onto the scene earlier this decade and has garnered world wide recognition for her emotional and energetic playing. In addition to releasing several albums as a leader, she has played with greats such as bassists Stanley Clarke and pianist Chick Corea. Hiromi begins a four night stand at Blues Alley on Thursday with daily 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets are $27.50 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Jerry Gordon is a devotee of legendary jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery. Gordon will host a tribute to the late master on Friday at Jazz Night in Southwest. The band will include Three Stars alum and DCist fave Thad Wilson on trumpet. 6 to 9 p.m. $5
