MOVIE: Batman Returns plays outdoors tonight in Crystal City, part of their free Superheroes movie series. Arrive early to claim your spot for the film, starting around 8:30 p.m. in the plaza across the street from the Crystal City Metro.
READING/MUSIC: All the cool moms and dads are taking their daughters to Comet Ping Pong tonight, where music journalist Jessica Hopper, author of the new book The Girls’ Guide to Rocking, will hold court. Hopper will read from her guide for girls on how to form bands and book gigs, and a trio of hard rocking ladies will follow up with a performance: Ghost Bees, Lucia Lucia and May Tabol of Pree will all play. 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $3 for kids and adults are $5.
FOOD & DRINK DC Restaurant Week kicks off today. If your top choice out of 180 restaurants is taken, we’re sure you’ll still be able to find something great for your $35.09. Consult Open Table for availability.
READING: If you’re starved for some informed discussion on the current state of the efforts of the Federal Reserve to right the U.S. economy, you could hardly do better than to spend an evening with Wall Street Journal reporter David Wessel. Stop by Politics and Prose tonight, where Wessel will read from and sign copies of his new book, In Fed We Trust: Ben Bernanke’s War on the Great Panic. 7 p.m.
SPORTS: There’s something about a 4:35 p.m. baseball game in late August that’s infinitely appealing. Find an excuse to duck out of the office early and get to Nationals Park to watch the end of the team’s series against the visiting Brewers. After losing the first two and winning on Sunday, the Nats are looking to even things up. Plenty of $10 seats are still available.
