Thankfully, the two employees suffered injuries that are being described as “non-life threatening,” though they were transported for treatment to Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Metro has been having an incredibly bad summer in terms of safety. Since the June 22 Red Line crash, which killed nine people, two other Metro employees have died while on the job (there was Michael Nash, the veteran track repairman who died on Aug. 9, and Steven Griffith, the subcontractor who died last week after being electrocuted), and another was forced to enter rehab after testing positive for drugs in the wake of an investigation as to how a train he prepped ended up with 10 rail cars on it. Two Metrobus operators were also fired earlier this month.
