Metro officials are warning of major delays on the Red Line this evening after an individual was injured at the Gallery Place Metro station at about 3:55 p.m., Metro spokesperson Angela Gates said. Preliminary reports indicate a young man was injured after being allegedly pushed into the side of a train that was pulling into the Gallery Place Metro station. The injury, which D.C. Fire/EMS spokesperson Pete Piringer said is considered not life threatening, therefore took place on the platform, and not on the tracks, despite earlier reports.

Red Line trains are currently sharing the same track between Farragut North and Judiciary Square, Gates said. Customers are being encouraged to avoid the Red Line this evening, and told to expect delays of up to one hour.
