A man is in police custody this afternoon after shots were fired at the Woodbridge campus of Northern Virginia Community College in Prince William County, the Washington Post is reporting. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
The suspect allegedly walked into a classroom carrying a high-powered rifle at about 2:13 p.m., and subsequently fired an undetermined number of shots. WTOP says the shooter may have been a former student.
The campus was placed on emergency lockdown during and after the incident. WTTG/FOX5 has some video of students being evacuated from a campus building. There are also some recent comments on WUSA9’s web site that claim to be from students who say they are still being held in locked down buildings.
The school has since announced that the NOVA-Woodbridge campus is closed for the evening, with all scheduled classes canceled.
