A hearty congratulations to D.C.’s own Watkins Hornets, who took home the Pee Wee Division 1 National Football Championship on Saturday, defeating the Florida City Razorbacks 22-8. The team, the first from D.C. ever to compete in Disney’s Wide World of Sports’ Pop Warner National Championship series, traveled to Orlando for the game.

The city threw the Hornets a well-deserved welcome home party on Sunday (the Post has coverage of the event), capping off a season that saw them go undefeated over 15 games. D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty has promised the kids Super Bowl champion jackets, and plans to present the head coach, Delante Williams, with a key to the city.
