The folks over at the Capital Weather Gang have been all over what looks like a nasty little snowstorm headed our way. What started yesterday as a “maybe” has turned into a “likely,” leaving District residents to contend with anywhere from 3 to 12 inches of snow from Friday into Saturday. Of course, they’re still hedging their bets a little, pointing out that nothing is definitive and that the storm might dodge the city at best or end up rivaling the blizzard of ’03 at worst. (Yes, a few of us at DCist have been around long enough to remember that last time we really got walloped with snow. And much like now, weather forecasters were iffy on how bad things would be until, well, there were 12 inches of snow on the ground and we were left to forage for food.)

Obviously, weather predictions like this provoke the famed District Rush, during which panicked residents clean out every store within a hundred-mile radius of toilet paper, batteries and water. So if you’re short on any of those and don’t want to wait until next Wednesday to re-up, make your way to your local supermarket and buy a roll or two.
