Each month, DCist works with the Washington Humane Society to highlight some of the many dogs and cats that are available for adoption. The Washington Humane Society’s goal to “increase adoption, decrease the number of animals in need, and teach responsible pet ownership” is one that we truly believe in. This month, we’re bringing you the dogs and cats separately, dogs today and cats on Monday.

First, let’s start with the happy news, we have four adoptions to report! Copper and Champ, two of the dogs that we featured last month, have found homes. Kodiak and Butch, two of our feline friends, were adopted as well. The sad news is that many are still waiting for someone to come take them home. Honey, the meerkat like dog, is still waiting for a home at the Humane Society. Destiny has been moved to the Washington Animal Rescue League because they have more space available, but she is still waiting for a home. Dr. Beau, the cat looking for a home with another playmate, is still up for adoption. And lastly, Sumi, the beautiful family dog that we featured two months ago, is still waiting for a new owner. Maybe it’s you?
