Good morning, Washington! I’m back after a blissfully relaxing vacation, and basking in the glorious Bruins victory at yesterday’s Eagle Bank Bowl, so everything feels like it’s coming up Milhouse on this chilly Wednesday morning. Kindly refrain from reminding me that your college football team is playing in some bigger, better, later bowl game; your college football team didn’t conveniently deliver itself to your backyard and proceed to pull together a wicked 4th quarter rally. Let’s Go Bruins!

Teen Arrested in Metro Shoving Incident: An 18-year-old D.C. man was arrested Tuesday on charges of pushing another young man into the side of a Metro train on Nov. 30, the Washington Post reports. You’ll recall that the incident caused Red Line delays in and out of the Gallery Place station that afternoon, especially before initial reports that someone had been struck head-on by a train were finally corrected. The victim sustained a serious but not life-threatening head injury, and the suspect, Jarell Thompson Jr., has now been charged with aggravated assault.

Snowstorm Price-tag Above $41 Million: The Examiner tallies up the total cost so far of SnOMG ’09, and comes up with more than $41 million spent on plowing and salting by the various affected local jurisdictions. This is a big number, and it’s a big deal not only because every government is struggling in the recession, but because these “preliminary bills represent more than half of the combined snow budgets though winter just started.” As a good example, the District has reportedly already spent $4 million of its $6.2 million snow removal budget, a figure which could easily balloon with just one or two more big storms.
