D.C. police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place Wednesday afternoon, not far from the Deanwood Metro station.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of Eastern Ave. NE at about 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of an unconscious person. When they arrived, they found Keith Neal, 41, a resident of the same block, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Neal was then transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
