D.C. Council member David Catania (I-At large) is officially running for re-election. D.C. Wire reports that the former Republican-turned-Independent filed his paperwork on Friday. Catania, who holds one of the two At-large seats reserved for non-Democrats, is facing a primary challenge from Rev. Anthony Motley. Motley is often seen by the side of his close friend D.C. Council member Marion Barry (D-Ward 8), but he’s running a Michael A. Brown-style “Independent-Democrat” campaign.
