It would be wrong to let yesterday pass without noting that somebody out there just had a big special day . . . that’s right, Maryland! DCist didn’t forget the Old Line State, especially now that it’s another year older. It only seems like a couple years ago that Maryland, back on January 30, 1781, assented to the Articles of Confederation to become the 13th state entered into these United States. (Or so the Smithsonian National Museum of American History tells me, anyway.) Now, this is totally going to embarrass Maryland, but I just have to share some stories: 1) Once, in third grade, Maryland laughed so hard it peed on the slide. 2) Annapolis has never kissed a girl. 3) Maryland is so ballin’. 4) Paul Westerberg wrote one sweet love song to Maryland, or her state flower anyway. Surely others out there have some Maryland facts.
