DDOT just sent out these images via Twitter, of an absolutely enormous tree that’s come down across the 400 block of Allison Street NW, roots and all.

Department spokesperson John Lisle tells us via email that power has been knocked out in the immediate area, presumably because the tree took out some power lines as it came down. No injuries have been reported, but Lisle says he heard the tree came very close to hitting a resident who was shoveling snow next door. Scary stuff. The District’s Urban Forestry Administration is currently on scene, waiting for Pepco crews to arrive.

Remember, if you see a tree down that’s blocking roads or sidewalks, the city is asking you to call 311 to report it.
