We just got off the phone with MPD spokesperson Sgt. Nicholas Breul, who filled in some details on the arrest of a woman involved in a snowball fight early this morning.

Bruel confirmed Third District police officers responded to a call of a “disorderly snow fight” at the corner of 11th and Kenyon streets NW at a little after 2 a.m. One of the officers who responded to the call (he says there were four total) was, at some point, according to police, hit in the face with what Bruel described as an “ice ball.” He said the “ice ball” left a mark on the officer in question, whose identity he could not confirm.

A 21-year-old woman, whose identity Breul could not give me, was then arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, which is a felony.

That’s all the information the MPD could give out at this time. The police account differs somewhat from the emailed version of events we’ve received. City Desk has since identified the woman as Maria Louis, a Columbia Heights resident, and spoken with her roommate, who told them Louis is still being held at D.C. Superior Court’s central booking.
