Photo by scott*eric. You there: stop constructing that aluminum Taj Mahal replica from all the empty brew cans which have sustained you, lo these past few snow-filled weeks — for recycling collection from the District’s curbs resumes on Monday.
The D.C. Department of Public Works asks that if residents can’t fit all of their paper, plastics, and aluminum into your allocated blue bin — and let’s be honest, this is likely the case for most of you — they should put the overflow into brown paper bags or cardboard boxes and place it next to the bin on the curb.
Trash pickup will also return to a normal schedule this week; but as has been the case for the last few weeks, alley service won’t be part of the plan. “Not enough melting has occurred…to create certainty that DPW collections crews safely can collect trash and recyclables from alleys,” says DPW.
