>> Tonight, busy local saxophonist Bobby Muncy leads a group at U-topia that will include Three Stars alum Anthony Pirog and trumpeter Joe Herrera. The band will be playing jazz arrangements of songs by Radiohead. 9 p.m. No cover.

>> Bassist Buster Williams’ résumé reads like a who’s who of classic jazz. Sarah Vaughn, Betty Carter, Nancy Wilson, Miles Davis, and Herbie Hancock are just a few of the greats with whom Williams has played. He will begin a four night stand of 8 and 10 p.m. sets with his own band on Thursday at Blues Alley. His group includes saxophonist Steve Wilson and powerhouse drummer Cindy Blackman, best known for her work with Lenny Kravitz in the 1990s. Tickets are $25 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> On Friday, Jazz Night in Southwest hosts a tribute to organist Bill Byrd, a staple of Baltimore’s jazz scene for years. 6 to 9 p.m. $5

>> The Batiste family is up there with the Marsalises and the Nevilles when it comes to New Orleans’ musical heritage. Pianist Jonathan Batiste, the latest in the lineage, is a 2008 Juilliard graduate, and will be performing sold out 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. sets at the KC Jazz Club on Friday. >> This weekend, HR-57 hosts regulars A.J. Parham (Friday) and Antonio Parker (Saturday). 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $12

>> Drummer and local mainstay Nasar Abadey will lead his group, Supernova, on Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz. The supergroup of local jazzers will play nightly 9 and 11 p.m. sets. Tickets are $15 + $12 minimum/surcharge.

>> Powerful tenor saxophonist J.D. Allen cut his teeth playing with legendary vocalist Betty Carter, and has also spent a lot of time as a sideman in New York’s fertile jazz scene. He has started recording albums as a leader, and most recently focused on the sax/bass/drums format. He will be leading his trio on Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. Tickets to the 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets are $18.
