We had a feeling that by holding the 2010 DCist Exposed Photography Show at the 5,000 sq. ft. Long View Gallery, we’d encourage a few more people to attend the opening reception this year. But we’re not sure we were emotionally prepared for Saturday’s big event to draw close to double the number of people who showed up last year. Eager early birds started lining up outside the door half an hour before the gallery even opened, peering in through the windows as we hurried to finish setting up the bars and music. By the end of the evening, roughly 1,800 of you made it inside, drinking and yes, even dancing through the night with us surrounded by 47 gorgeous photographs that celebrate the best of Washington, D.C.
Huge, huge thanks go out to our sponsors who helped us fill the gallery this year:
- Pabst Blue Ribbon for their ice cold beer and free, homemade pinhole cameras for the first 100 guests.
- Scott Palmer of Dino poured us some seriously tasty (and strong!) rum punch.
- Leopold Brothers provided tastings of everything from apple whiskey to absinthe.
- Downey Selections offered wines from their portfolio (I’m officially a convert to their sparkling red wine)
- Nage, which provided some delicious hors d’oeuvres and cheese plates
- Ten Miles Square, which supports local photographers
- And our fantastic DJs, v:shal kanwar, Sequoia, and Mr Darko, who kept things bumpin’ all night
Last, but not least, thank you to the Long View Gallery, and Drew Porterfield in particular, who has been great to work with and is lucky to own one of the single best event venues in the city.
We’re not done yet! DCist Exposed runs through March 21; you can stop by the gallery anytime Wednesday through Saturday (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Sunday (12 to 5 p.m.).
