Head to the Long View Gallery during regular business hours — though please note the gallery will be closed this Sunday. >> Some good news for the Atlas District: G Fine Art is finally set to open this Saturday, after closing its 14th Street NW location late last summer. See the new space, at 1350 Florida Ave. NE, filled with abstract portrait painter A.B. Miner’s work in Naked. Reception 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
>> G Fine Art fills out the block where Conner Contemporary opened a year and a half ago and Industry Gallery, on the second floor, opened in January. Get all the art you can handle in Northeast on Saturday night, when Conner opens two exhibits, Maria Friberg’s Transmission and Dean Kessmann’s Art as Paper as Potential, and Industry showcases the concrete furniture of two Dutch designers, Tejo Remy and René Veenhuizen. 6 to 8 p.m.
>> Visit Glen Echo Park to see some up-and-coming documentary photographers display their work. Mirror to the World is curated by photographer, teacher and Washington Post art writer Frank van Riper. Opening reception Friday, 6 to 9 p.m. in the Photoworks Gallery, first floor of the Arcade Building.
>> Attention writers: join the folks from Barrelhouse for Dzanc National Workshop Day this Saturday. Sharpen your creative writing skills at Wonderland Ballroom from 1 to 5 p.m., $50. We’re told D.C. has more participants that any other city so far, but there are still a few seats left, so hurry and claim one.
>> Transformer’s annual Collector’s View event starts this Sunday. For a $50 ticket, you’ll get a special viewing of one of four collections, each belonging to influential D.C. art patrons, or spend $175 and see all four. Tours are once a month through June. Your contributions are tax-deductible and will go directly to support Transformer’s 2010-2011 exhibition series.
>>Join the American Society of Picture Professionals for the second DC Picture Show. Two photographers, Stephen Crowley and Lesley Frowick, will present and talk about their work at the 5th and K St Busboys and Poets this Thursday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. $5 for non-ASPP members.
