The Vinyl District and Fort Reno are joining forces for a benefit show at St. Stephen’s Church a week from Saturday. Olivia Mancini, Paul Michel, Tone, and New Rock Church of Fire will play on April 17 for Record Store Day — a holiday that sees all record worshipers make a pilgrimage to their local houses of vinyl. Tickets for the all-ages, booze-free show go for $10 and all proceeds go toward the Fort Reno summer concert series.
As a special bonus, anyone who presents a receipt dated April 17 from an area record store at the doors at St. Stephen’s will receive half off the ticket price. Buy a record on Record Store Day, pay $5 to get into a Record Store Day show, help Fort Reno pay for their 2010 season, profit. The Record Store Day poster is $10 and proceeds for those sales also go to Fort Reno.
According to Jon Meyers, who blogs for the Vinyl District (the official 2010 Record Store Day blog), the idea for a Fort Reno benefit belonged to Ross Hurt, drummer for Caverns and bass player for Solar-Powered Sun Destroyer. For his trouble, we hope both those bands wind up playing Fort Reno this summer.
