D.C. came down with a bad case of Capitals fever this season, what with Ovechkin, Semin and the rest leading the team to the best record in the NHL and a lot of Stanley Cup talk.

Then, oops. The Caps blew a 3-1 series lead over an 8th seed team from Montreal whose name comes up as wrong on spell check. The collapse led Caps fans toward despair, depression and anger. And to plan to do things that it appears the Caps defense couldn’t.

Overheard of the Week

On W Street NW an hour or so after the Capitals lost the series:

20-something Caps fan venting about the loss to his friend: “I’m gonna go steal candy from a baby.”
