Photo by thisisbossiYou kinda had to see this one coming. With the advent of a Barnes Dance-style pedestrian crossing at 7th and H streets NW, a handful of locals have planned a whimsical “Barn Dance”-themed flash mob at the spot. Courtesy the DCist tipline, here’s the Facebook page to sign up for tonight’s hoedown, during which participants sporting “overalls, plaid and straw hats” will “do-se-do” through the busy Chinatown intersection.
Between the dozens of high school kids who hang out at this corner on Friday nights, the thousands of National Police Week attendees who will no doubt be strolling through the area, and the possibility that the megaphone-enhanced Black Israelites who are often on the scene may well be posted up in their semi-regular spot, this event should add up to quite a spectacle in Chinatown tonight.
Anyone who wants to join these enterprising barn dancers is asked to meet up at 7 p.m. at the corner of 6th and H NW to practice some moves, with the main event to kickoff shortly thereafter.
