Pizza plays the Black Cat backstage Monday. MONDAY
The opening act’s music is the official soundtrack of a comic book about “the shitty things that men say” to the main character. The headliner is called Pizza and trades in hooky garage rock. Olympia, WA’s RVIVR are the meat in this rock ‘n’ roll sandwich, and what a tasty sandwich that will be. There are few places that promise as much fun tonight as the Black Cat’s backstage. Hey Girl, RVIVR and Pizza get started around 8:30 p.m. $8
>> Iota: Previously On Lost makes a very timely stop in Arlington, just ahead of the big finale of the big show. 8 p.m., $12.
>> 9:30 Club: King Sunny Adé’s show has been canceled. Refunds are available at point of purchase.
TUESDAY
Fuckin’ metal, man. The Velvet Lounge hosts Music Hates You and The Osedax. 9 p.m., $8.
>> Iota: Kid Goat get a WMA nod for covering one of my very favorite songs (“Jolene”) pretty well. They’re playing with The Starlingtons. 8:30 p.m., $10.
