The now seemingly torpedoed soda tax might well have been a good idea, at least in that it could have convinced people to drink a bit less of the stuff. Tax or not, people don’t act rationally when it comes to eating smart. Case in point:

At the counter at Ben’s Chili Bowl last Thursday:

An elderly female tourist, after ordering a half smoke and chili cheese fries: “And I’ll have a Diet Coke.”
