UPDATE: Word is that construction at the Telegraph Road overpass is complete and that all lanes and ramps are now open.

I cannot emphasize this enough: do not use the Inner Loop of the Beltway anywhere near the Telegraph Road overpass this weekend. Officials were predicting backups of at least ten miles, as the Inner Loop is reduced to one lane for construction work on the overpass until 5 a.m. Monday. That prediction was correct. Anyone thinking about driving around Alexandria and points south would be wise to avoid this white-hot mess entirely.

For what it’s worth, the Outer Loop along the same stretch looks just dandy — so, those in the mood for schadenfreude, look no further.

Also of note: D.C. Fire and EMS tweets to remind us that the area around RFK Stadium should also be congested today due to the DC101 Chili Cook-Off. Plan your route accordingly.
