Considering the historically poor form of their hometown soccer club this season, this might just be the best piece of news that diehard D.C. United supporters have heard in several months: the stadium’s venerable Parking Lot 8 — home to many a pre-game celebration — is at last fully repaved and reopened to the public.

Extensive repairs to the lot were necessary this year after the city decided to use it as a space to dump tons of snow during February’s Snowpocalypse.

The reopening means somewhere between 1500 to 1700 parking spaces are now back in use, according to Washington Convention and Sports Authority spokesperson Teri Washington. Perhaps more importantly, the Lot 8 Access Road has also reopened.

The timing of this news couldn’t be better, with an exhibition match against A.C. Milan set for Wednesday. Now, if only the Washington Convention and Sports Authority could simply repave over some of the personnel decisions that United’s front office has made over the past couple of years, the fans would be all set.
